The 400-acre park at the south end of Key Biscayne is home to the Cape Florida Lighthouse, first built in 1825 and subsequently destroyed by the Seminoles in 1836. The rebuilt lighthouse, erected in 1846, is the one you'll see today when you visit the park. The park is known to be home to one of Florida's most beautiful beaches, with velvety sand and crystal-blue water. Fishing and wildlife-watching are among the most popular activities at the beach, and picnics happen often thanks to the multitude of pavilions available for rental. When the park isn't busy, you can take advantage of the picnic pavilions on a first-come, first-served basis.
