DJ Khaled made an appearance at the grand opening of the Hideaway, a speakeasy bar in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
The hip-hop superstar was there Wednesday, Dec. 13 to support his future brother-in-law, Michael Tuck, the Hideaway’s owner.
Tuck’s sister is Nicole Tuck, DJ Khaled’s fiancee and the mother of his son Asahd Tuck Khaled.
The evening started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in which Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler welcomed Tuck to the neighborhood. Across the street, the demolition of Las Olas Riverfront continues. But that doesn’t bother Tuck — who also owned rock ‘n’ roll hot spot Automatic Slim’s in Miami Beach as well as EDM clubs Play and Stereo in Fort Lauderdale.
“I’m pretty high on the area,” Tuck says. “What I know that everyone else doesn’t know is that there’s a ton of development planned for this actual street. There’s four new 45-story high-rises being built right across the street from me, and this whole area is about to be the center of downtown Fort Lauderdale in terms of nightlife, restaurants, shopping and we just got here first. In a matter of months, there’ll be four or five great new destinations right on this block.”
Speaking about what previous nightclub experience has taught him, Tuck says, “What I’ve learned is life is unpredictable, but fun and exciting. And I really have high hopes for the area. I used to own Automatic Slim’s in Miami Beach, and I kind of rode the wave of South Beach going up and down. And now, I’m ready to be in Fort Lauderdale and watch everything go up.”
