BEST VENEZUELAN RESTAURANT
Doggi’s Arepa Bar
1246 Coral Way, Miami; 305-854-6869; EatDoggis.com
This cramped, often busy restaurant near Brickell and Little Havana serves a variety of hot and heavy sandwiches, including doughy arepas, sublike pepitos and artery-testing patacons. The “bread” in this last sandwich is actually two fried plantains, and it comes loaded with cheese, sauce and a choice of churrasco, eye round, or shredded beef or chicken. It’s delicious, though you may need to go to the Andes to walk off the calories. Doggi’s also has restaurants at 7281 Biscayne Blvd., in Miami, and 260 Crandon Blvd., in Key Biscayne.
