Order one of Gilbert’s Angus-certified beef half-pounders ($9.95), and the thick patty arrives on a toasted sesame bun, inside a basket lined with faux-newspaper wrap next to a mound of skin-on, greaseless fries. There are 11 variations on Gilbert’s gas-grilled burger, but we’re enamored with the bleu cheese-stuffed one, covered in bacon, fried onions, lettuce and tomato ($13.95); and “The Hickory,” a behemoth topped with barbecue sauce, bacon, Swiss and onion rings on an egg bun. A dark horse is the Havarti Burger, topped with bacon and havarti cheese on two toasted English muffins coated in garlic butter ($13.95).
