Super week party guide
Jan 31, 2007
Beer Goggles

6316 Lantana Road, Lake Worth, 561/968-0990, Beergoggles2020.com

The spot that once housed J.J. Muggs will offer one of the best game-watching deals around. Starting at 4 p.m., patrons will be treated to drink and food specials, a free halftime buffet and the opportunity to spend quality time with the lovely Jäger girls, who will offer shots of the harsh green stuff. Prize raffles will also be held as everyone watches the big game on the bar's 20 TVs, including a 128-inch high-definition superscreen. Each TV is equipped with stadium surround sound. Customers pay no cover before 4 p.m. and only $5 after.

Bonefish Creek

5425 W. Atlantic Blvd., Margate, 954/984-4422, Bonefishcreek.com

Starting at 5:30 p.m., this location will offer a $49.95 Super Bowl party package that includes an open bar (excluding shots) and buffet, a view of the game on more than four dozen TVs, including a dozen projection screens; a bounty of prizes; and the priceless thrill of spending an evening in Margate. Be sure to try the piña colada mahi-mahi or the conch fritters served with a cool and tangy homemade cocktail sauce. Wash it all down with the 32-ounce BoneHead Monster Margarita and you won't care who wins the game. Reserved seats are offered.

Bru's Room

35 N.E. Second Ave., Delray Beach, 561/276-3663, Brusroom.com

Spend the evening with like-minded football fans at this laid-back neighborhood bar. More than two dozen TVs will provide a great view of the game from nearly anywhere in the bar, which is known for its award-winning barbecue-grilled wings. Budweiser vendors will be hawking their beer at this location of the popular chain, and drink specials will include five-for-$10 buckets of domestic beers, five-for-$12 Heinekens and discounted mixed drinks.

Champps Americana

6401 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, 954/491-9335, Champps.com

Beginning at 4 p.m. and for just $60 per person, Champps will offer patrons an open bar and a free buffet. After loading up at the roast beef carving station for the fifth time, watch the NFL antics on the venue's plasma TVs, including four big-screen sets. The party will also feature the "Best Seat in the House" contest, in which two lucky people will get to watch the game while being served by their own personal wait staff as they recline in new La-Z-Boys, which they get to take home.

Cinema Paradiso

503 S.E. Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale, 954/525-3456, Cinemaparadiso.org

Watch the Super Bowl on a really big screen at this downtown Fort Lauderdale movie theater. Lounge in plush stadium seats and enjoy $2.50 Stella Artois lagers, $4.50 draft beers and specials on other concessions. Prizes will be awarded, and admission and parking are both free.

Davie Ale House

2080 S. University Drive, Davie, 954/236-0062, www.alehouseinc.com

The big draw to this popular suburban location of the Ale House franchise is its proximity to the Miami Dolphins' training camp, which may explain why it's a popular hang for the team's players. The $50 cover includes all you can eat and drink from 5 to 10 p.m. Prize contests will be held throughout the evening. And keep your eyes open for Jason Taylor or Zach Thomas -- that is, if they're not watching the game in their mansions with their rich friends.

Finnegan's 2 and Polar Bar

942 and 938 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, 305/538-7997

During the regular NFL season, patrons often spill out from Finnegan's 2 onto Lincoln Road. But for the extravaganza that is Super Bowl Sunday, the bar has decided to join forces with a neighboring venue and throw a block party. Four big-screen TVs will be set up on the street, 16 TVs will be tuned to the game indoors, food and drink specials will be provided, Coors reps will be on hand and the roast beef au jus sandwich will be better than your mama's. The festivities will begin at 3 p.m., and DJs will keep the party going inside after the game ends.

Hooligan's Pub and Oyster Bar

9555 S. Dixie Highway, Pinecrest, 305/667-9673, Hooliganspub.com

This popular sports bar will host a party featuring a complimentary halftime buffet, free shooters, prize giveaways and cool, friendly people. With 37 TVs, including six high-definition big screens and impromptu games of beer pong, guests will be entertained even if the football action blows. Admission is free.

The Original Steakhouse and Sports Theatre

10199 Cleary Blvd., Plantation, 954/382-1018; CityPlace, 550 S. Rosemary Ave., Suite 236, West Palm Beach, 561/833-1400; 1804 Cordova Road, Fort Lauderdale, 954/467-3535; 1000 University Drive, Coral Springs, 954/757-5575; and 7875 Glades Road, Boca Raton, 561/488-1131; Theoriginalsteakhouseandsportstheatre.com

Each of these locations houses 10 8-foot-by-6-foot TVs, so no matter where you plant yourself, you'll have a great view of the game. Depending on your opinion on the propagation of the species, the Original Steakhouse and Sports Theatre's kid-friendly atmosphere can be a plus or a minus. But even if some sniveling brat is crying while you're trying to focus on Peyton Manning, the venue's raucous vibe and the personal TV speaker at each table should drown out Junior. The impressive menu includes curious items such as steak salad, barbecued-chicken potato skins, steak stroganoff and string beans in a garlic, soy and sweet-chili sauce alongside standard bar fare such as chicken wings, spinach-artichoke dip and hamburgers.

Super Block Party

The Himmarshee District, Southwest Second Street, downtown Fort Lauderdale, Big106.com

Join Doc Reno and Branzig from Big 105.9-FM for an evening of Super Bowl hysteria. The streets of the Himmarshee District will be closed to traffic so that couches can be positioned in front of big-screen TVs and beer can be spilled on the pavement. The district's most-popular bars, including Tavern 213, Coyote Ugly, Dicey Rileys and Tarpon Bend, will offer house specials. Other highlights will include interactive games, food and drink vendors on the street and the feeling that you're tailgating even though you're miles from the game.
