Super Bowled over

Super week party guide
Jan 31, 2007
China White
109 S.W. Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale, 954/759-7047, Myspace.com/lipssundays
Sure, free barbecue and two-for-one Jägermeister shots sound like the makings of a Super Bowl party, but trust us; this is no Super Bowl party. A stark contrast to the testosterone-laden block party taking place in the Himmarshee District, China White's new weekly event Lips Sundays is a lesbian-oriented affair that features free barbecue bites from 4 to 7 p.m., a stripper-pole contest and a drag-king show with Troy Boy and CJ Kimmee at midnight. Admission is free.

Churchill's Pub
5501 N.E. Second Ave., Miami, 305/757-1807, Churchillspub.com
If the hubbub of the Super Bowl leaves you with an empty feeling, head to Little Haiti's favorite British bar for the Real Rock Show No. 8. The madcap music festival will feature noise, electro and experimental music from Mad Happy, Dino Felipe, Zombies! Organize!!, Peasants With Feathers, The Curious Hair and Ghostmilk Tales, among others. Admission is free.

Jetsetter Lounge
1132 N. Dixie Highway, Lake Worth, 561/533-7999, Jetsetterlounge.com
At the weekly Intergalactic Polynesian Luau, guests can immerse themselves in an atmosphere somewhere between a space oddity and a Shag painting. This retro hipster hangout takes on a South Sea island vibe with a $19.95 build-your-own pupu platter, tabletop hibachis, molten chocolate volcano cake and more. And when people say "game time" here, football is the last thing on their minds, as patrons often engage in rounds of Operation and Twister. The bar, meanwhile, serves "voodoo juice" shots for $3 and 24-ounce mai tais for $7 all night.

Kahuna Bar and Grill
249 N. Ocean Drive, Deerfield Beach, 954/725-0244, Myspace.com/127193168
This surfers hangout will get increasingly irie as the night rolls on. Reggae group UnderDub will take the stage at 4 p.m., and "surf club" drink specials will be offered from 10 p.m. till close. If that doesn't suit you, try one of 10 frozen tropical drinks, from piņa coladas to the dirty banana to a Red Bull hurricane. If you're looking for good eats, try the wasabi-crusted fish or tropical shrimp skewers.

MIA Skatepark
1850 N.W. 84th Ave., Suite 108, Doral, 305/599-2172, Miaskatepark.com
Downplaying the organized-sports aspect of the day in favor of freestyle skateboarding, this popular skate park will present demos by professional boarders Ron Allen, Jake Rupp, Ryan Nix, John Buchanan, Dave Caddo, Mike Espinosa, Johan Stuckey, Ben Gore, Brian Downey, Brian De La Torre and a special guest. They will showcase their talents while vendors from Satori Wheels, Creation and Yellow Brand skateboard companies will hawk their products. The event will begin at 4 p.m. Admission is $10.

Round Up
9020 W. State Road 84, Davie, 954/423-1990, Roundupcountry.com
This country hot spot will show the game on its handful of TV sets, but as Peyton Manning is throwing passes, you'll be learning to boot scoot during the beginners' line-dance lessons, which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Dinner specials will be offered, as well.
