Moby, Paul van Dyk, Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, Carl Cox, The Crystal Method, Rabbit in the Moon … Oh, the heck with it. The Ultra Music Festival boasts so many DJs, each among the best in the world, that it would be futile to list them all. When the whole thing is over, the official Ultra afterparty at American Airlines Arena will include Sasha, John Digweed and … well, there we go again. You get the idea. Just about everyone who's anyone in the world of electronica takes a place behind the decks during the Ultra Music Festival. And that's only the tip of the iceberg of the Winter Music Conference.

While the rest of the world, even the traditionally bleep-happy citizens of the United Kingdom, is heralding electronica entropy the way they trumpeted the death of disco 30 years ago, South Florida is witnessing the largest version yet of the annual electronic-music-industry showcase. We've interviewed a diverse selection of WMC participants that you'll probably want to know more about, and we offer our picks for the week's finest fetes, which you'll definitely want to know more about.

And just remember: When the music cognoscenti were doing the disco-death dance in Europe, the Bee Gees were recording Saturday Night Fever in America. Depending on your opinion of electronica, the implications are frightening or promising. Take your pick.
