Hot professionals: part two

Meet 12 guys who make what they do for a living look easy -- and look good doing it.

July 19 2006

Anyone who would dare challenge the cliché that women are the fairer sex has never watched grown men peg one another with hot charcoal briquettes during a tailgate party at the Daytona 500, waited inside a crowded football-stadium restroom for a urinal to open up while the man standing next to him pisses into a trash can or imagined what it would be like to fight a kangaroo. Women simply don't do these things. With few exceptions, women are smarter, classier and -- until that godawful metrosexual trend came along -- overwhelmingly prettier than men.

Still, for all their beastly-and-proud-of-it nature, men have the ability to clean up rather nicely when they want to. (Well, some men, anyway: No amount of waxing, bathing or gym hours could ever do much for Nick Nolte.) The 12 men on the following pages not only photograph well, but they have been able to keep their inner primates in check long enough to pursue respectable careers and lead impressive lives. One man flew fighter jets in the U.S. Navy. Another saves lives on a routine basis. One educates young minds. And at least one of them has been able to convince someone to marry him. Clearly, there is something wrong with these guys.

All kidding aside, we're proud to present this second installment of our Hot Professionals issues and would like to thank the men and women who appeared in both. If you'd like to meet them in person, City Link will host a 7-10 p.m. Thursday at Blue Martini, located in the Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale. Admission is free, and the nightclub will offer drink specials during the event. Marsupial boxing, however, is not on the agenda. We look forward to seeing you there.
