How long has Ginger Snapped been around? I've been jamming with Javi [Caballero, guitarist] for a long time, but Ginger Snapped's first show was in April. I was gonna play bass -- I had played bass and sang in a band called Rev -- but my friend Vanessa [Dubin] was really excited to play bass. She had played bass in a band called Bicycle Rider. ... She's doing a great job. My drummer [Jon Boho], I was jamming with in D.C. He moved down here to work at the Sun-Sentinel, and so we kept on.

How old are you? 32.

What was the first album you ever bought? The Head on the Door by The Cure.

What are your turn-ons and turnoffs? A turn-on is being snuggly and watching movies.

A turnoff is being snuggly when I'm not in the mood. It has to be just right. … Oh, and I don't like bad breath. Or those little saliva strings that some people get in their mouths when they talk. Saliva strings -- my worst nightmare.

Have you ever been arrested? Yes, for having a suspended license. It was, like, 2 o'clock in the morning, and the taillight was out. In jail, they served bologna sandwiches with big crater holes in the bologna. We also got a really icky cookie. They also gave us unsweetened grapefruit juice just to torture us. This is what you get when you go to jail, so avoid it.

Do you have a day job? Yes. I'm an office slave. I'd like to be an office manager somewhere else, though. I'm really good at it.

Didn't you used to work in a funeral home? Yes, for four years. … I loved it. I started out as a funeral director's assistant, and I did tons and tons and tons of removals. I've seen every cause of death you can imagine -- fen-phen to drowning to shooting.

Wow. That's -- wait. Fen-phen? Yeah, this fat woman took it to lose weight, and it didn't work out with her body, and when we removed her, she was frozen with rigor mortis. It took three people to get her down the stairs.

Let's change the subject. What's your favorite local band, and you can't say Ginger Snapped. Can I have two?

Fine. My two most favorites are Trapped by Mormons and The Livid Kittens.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you? Even though I'm very girly-girly, I can do yard work and cut all the trees and do house stuff and manly stuff. … I'm a handy girly-girly.

-- Dan Sweeney

Ginger Snapped will perform 9 p.m. Saturday at the City Link Music Fest in downtown Hollywood. For more information, see . For more on the band, visit www.gingersnapped.com.
