Like fellow local act Two Story Double Wide, with whom it has shared a bill several times, Truckstop Coffee plants one foot in country and another one firmly in rock. But unlike 2SDW, Truckstop Coffee leans more to the country side. While the songs are frantic, the lyrics revolve around standard country themes -- whiskey, women, trucks, trains and women drinking whiskey while driving their trucks and playing chicken with trains. But if anyone still has any doubt about Truckstop Coffee's pedigree, he or she need only take notice of the band's Oct. 30 gig at Sound Advice Amphitheatre, where it will perform at 7 p.m. on the side stage of the Brooks and Dunn concert. If that ain't country, they'll kiss your ass.
