Bamboo Room
25 S. J St., Lake Worth, 561/585-2583, www.bamboorm.com

Yes, the Bamboo Room has been the perpetual winner in this category since it opened six years ago. But over the past year or so, the schedule at the handsome Lake Worth venue has taken some intriguing turns. So, you're likely to catch not only otherwise-rare performances by icons such as Billy Joe Shaver, Link Wray and Bo Diddley, or riveting solo acoustic sets from artists such as Corey Harris and Kelly Joe Phelps, but also tastes of some of the hippest jam bands, alt-country acts and anti-folk heroes currently touring. From the Florida-centric swamp-rock of Mofro and the manic Russian rockabilly of the Red Elvises to the honky-tonk Tex-Mex of The Hacienda Brothers and the jamgrass of the Rev. Jeff Mosier and Blueground Undergrass, Bamboo Room owner Russell Hibbard still books the venue with great savvy and a discriminating ear. Top-tier blues acts are still part of the equation, but the Bamboo Room continues to evolve with far-reaching roots.
