The only negative about this cozy dance club is that it's located in the same awfully crowded plaza that houses Georgie's Alibi. (Savvy visitors can avoid the traffic congestion by parking in the municipal lot a few hundred feet south of the plaza.) Boom is popular nearly every night of the week but particularly on Fridays, when drafts and well drinks are free from 9 to 11 p.m. Large video screens located behind the bar and on the opposing wall show performances by everyone from Eartha Kitt to Earth, Wind and Fire. A DJ spins tunes in an adjoining room, in which a lethal-looking spiked disco ball casts a big shadow on the dance floor.
