MTV Video Music Awards

Since the Moonman landed in Miami last year, the 305 has been receiving mad hype. Following New York and Los Angeles, the Magic City became only the third host of the MTV Awards show, and it did it up with style. This year, the VMAs came back bigger and badder with Diddy hosting. Despite Hurricane Katrina causing some pre-party drama and Suge Knight getting shot in The Shore Club, locals and celebs -- including Carson Daly, Bam Margera, Kanye West and Hulk Hogan and his family -- still partied the weekend away. Both the Simpson sisters and Hilton girls showed, along with Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba, Kirsten Dunst and Beyoncé, proving Miami Beach is as smoking on the radar as their usual hangouts in la-la land and the Big Apple. Green Day won Video of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," and South Beach won respect and admiration from locals and tourists as celebs mingled at parties at Opium Garden, Privé, Mansion and other hot clubs.
