Best Place To Bar-Hop
September 21 2005
Himmarshee Village and Las Olas Riverfront
Southwest Second Street, downtown Fort Lauderdale, www.goriverwalk.com and www.riverfrontfl.com
This category comes with a caveat: Anyone who bar-hops in this area, located between Andrews Avenue and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, shouldn't get so trashed as to lose sight of the train tracks that bisect Himmarshee and Riverfront. Assuming you can keep from stumbling into an oncoming locomotive, nearly two dozen watering holes on either side of the tracks will keep the night from becoming predictable. There's a bar or club for just about every mood and taste, with Rush Street, Dicey Riley's, Automatic Slim's, Art Bar, Karma, China White, The Poor House and Revolution among them. More important, each has plenty of boys and girls looking for playmates. If you get hungry between hops, stop by Creolina's for gyros, Squiggy's for pizza by the slice or Tarpon Bend for a dolphin sandwich.
