Best Convenience-Store Sub

My Market and Deli
229 S.W. 17th St., Fort Lauderdale, 954/764-5253

One of the best food finds in all of South Florida, the discreetly located My Market sits almost hidden across from Croissant Park on 17th Street, on the train line west of Andrews Avenue. Despite its location, customers have not only found this sub shop disguised as a convenience store, but they keep coming back in droves for some of the best sandwiches around. Nothing like the pre-made subs you get in other quickie marts, the My Market sandwiches are fat, fresh and flavorful, with mesquite-smoked turkey and maple-cured ham among the meats. The number of hot and cold options will overwhelm first-time customers, but it's hard to imagine any choice failing to live up to its promise. Service is fast, even when the place is busy, and there's seating for 28 people. A huge selection of bagged potato chips and a barrel of Boar's Head pickles can supplement the sub. For dessert, check out the great selection of ice creams near the cash register.
