Little India Restaurant
8344 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Sunrise, 954/741-7570, www.littleindiarestaurant.net
Hidden in a hard-to-find strip mall adjacent to a Baby Love store, Little India has overcome a pedestrian location with first-rate fare that appeals to both non-Asians and native Indians living in the area. The kitchen excels with fresh and flavorful breads and slow-baked tandoori chicken that's coated with yogurt, ginger, garlic and assorted seasonings. The lamb dishes feature finely cut meats doused in sauces such as curry, vindaloo and creamy korma, among others. The large selection of vegetarian entrées includes channa masala, which combines chickpeas, pomegranate seeds, onions, tomatoes and spices in a tamarind sauce. The appetizers are substantial enough for a meal. The sauces can be hot, so if you want to avoid overheating, ask for mild or medium seasonings.
