Crown Wine and Spirits
Various locations; www.crownwineandspirits.com

For $10, you can swirl, smell and sip upward of 50 wines from Europe, Australia, South America and the United States at one of Crown's regular tastings. The beauty of it is you don't have to be an expert to have a good time. Like the Thomas Haden Church character in the film Sideways, you only have to know what tastes good to you, because there are no wine geeks waxing lyrical about the bouquet or whether it has hints of tar, pine or horse's hide (and other unappetizing smells). Instead, you shimmy about to various pouring stations, snack on gourmet treats and mingle with people who have graduated past buying jugs of Paul Masson. If you pay close attention, you may learn that tannin is not something you do at the beach.
