Doris Italian Market

If you cook anything Italian -- and are sick of Ragú -- then Doris is the place to find the ingredients. Start with several brands of San Marzano tomatoes, which are widely regarded as the best in the world because of their low acidity. The dried pastas include tubed, twisted, twirled and butterfly shapes, plus noodles ranging in thickness from angel hair to pappardelle. The variety of pre-made sauces feature a house-made marinara, plus imported jars of fra diavolo, puttanesca and creamed vodka for penne or rigatoni. Prepared foods are made daily, and the stores feature on-site bakeries, fresh seafood (except in Sunrise and Hollywood) and meat departments with butchers who can skillfully slice prosciutto, pancetta and steaks per your request.
