Best Farmers’ Market

Batten's Farm and Marketplace
5151 Davie Road Extension, Davie, 954/792-0068

Much of what used to be farmland in Davie has been, is being or will be paved over by housing developments and shopping plazas, slowly making the smell of horse dung a thing of the past. Thankfully, Batten's is still anchored to a countrified parcel along Davie Road, and better still, its smells are anything but equine. Open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Batten's is known for its seasonal homegrown strawberries, but the shaded, open-air market also attracts shoppers with a year-round harvest of fresh produce that can't be matched for price, quality or selection. You can buy fresh greens and juicy fruits for less than $15 and spend the savings on milk shakes and homemade fudge made on the premises.
