Best Old-Fashioned Ice-Cream Parlor

Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor
128 S. Federal Highway, Dania Beach, 954/923-4445
Jaxson's old-fashioned parlor has been such an institution in South Florida for so long that we don't even know if the ice cream is that good. Maybe Sloan's is tastier or the Cold Stone Creamery is the ultimate now, but who cares? Jaxson's is about the total experience. The old-time, carnival atmosphere immediately spins your head and makes you want to curl up and dream of being buried in caramel and whipped cream. Plus, the aisles and counters are loaded with yesteryear classics and fresh juicy treats you've never heard of. You can get a sandwich or a burger, but it's best to just make a meal of the delicious ice cream that doesn't let nostalgia get in the way of great tropical flavors like mango and passion fruit. The Kitchen Sink, loaded with scoops of everything that will fit, is legendary for its size, so you may want to bring about a dozen friends.
