Bob Roth's New River Groves
5660 Griffin Road, Davie, 954/581-8630, www.florida-oranges.com

Bob Roth's is known first for its extraordinary Key lime pies and second for the baskets of citrus it ships to Northerners who don't know enough to move away from the snow and other Northerners. But it also scoops bags full of shelled roasted peanuts that'll compare to anything you could find at baseball stadiums around the country. Set on the counter where a menu of 20 fruit smoothies that nicely complement them are served, the Virginia-farmed nuts are roasted fresh daily in a machine that keeps them warm and crunchy. A bag big enough for several sittings goes for $3, and you can dig in on-site at one of the benches that face the traffic passing by on Griffin Road.
