Best New Restaurant

North One 10
11052 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami, 305/893-4211

The circle is complete: After dazzling Miami in the early 1990s and then seeking further challenges in New York, chef Dewey LoSasso and his wife and restaurant manager, Dale, are back in South Florida with North One 10. It's the finest new restaurant we've enjoyed in the past year. Actually, we're obsessed with this place. A perfect blend of neighborhood informality with inspiring, high-concept food, Dewey LoSasso performs magic in the kitchen while his wife seamlessly runs the front of the house. The results are nothing short of spectacular: an assertive menu that never goes over the top; a comfortable, sectioned dining room that makes you feel as if you're eating at home; and exceptional service. North One 10 features a reasonably priced wine list and an ever-expanding selection of lunch specials. It also hosts wine dinners, cooking classes and other food events. And the LoSassos give back to the community by strongly supporting charity events such as Taste of the Nation. Their restaurant's menu changes constantly, depending on the chef's vision and the availability of fresh ingredients, but not to worry: Whether it's the best risotto in South Florida, fried shrimp wrapped in noodles with wasabi-infused butter, short ribs braised with Chianti or chocolate bread pudding that's so intoxicating it should be illegal, it's all good at North One 10.
