Quiet Waters Park
401 S. Powerline Road, Deerfield Beach, 954/360-1315, www.broward.org/parks
In a region with several evolving trails, Quiet Waters takes the lead for a nicely shaded 5-mile course that is smooth enough for beginners while offering enough challenging stunts and dirt jumps for experienced bikers. The trail is faster than most, though there are enough roots along the way to keep riders from getting complacent. Australian pines provide a canopy, and much of the well-maintained trail has a view of the lakes inside the park. Riders may encounter surprises along the way, such as the inevitable hanging branch, but this is a mountain bike trail that offers great exercise in an easygoing environment.
