If you think a library has only books, then you haven't been to the Main Library in downtown Fort Lauderdale. From the ground level to the sixth floor, this centerpiece around which the Broward County Library system orbits offers a thorough, multimedia resource for all manner of personal enrichment. Computers on the first, third and fifth floors offer Internet access and word processing and spreadsheet programs. The second floor has films on DVD and VHS, a wide range of CDs, and books on tape and in hardcover, all available for checkout with a library card. The third floor has books on the liberal arts and sciences while the fifth has business, law and government materials. The library hosts art exhibits, discussion groups, seminars, language and computer classes, a monthly film series, live performances and, best of all, the tranquility you need to make the learning stick.
