Yes, we realize the place is called CD Collector, but the store also boasts an eclectic selection of used LPs. With an expanded section of about 5,000 records, including some stashed in cardboard boxes beneath the bins, shoppers are sure to find something to make them squeal like a hot mike. The inventory features everything from the proto-punk of The Kinks and Patti Smith to soul gems by Aretha Franklin and The JBs. Jazz fans, or people who would like to be, can find all kinds of treasures by everyone from bluesy Billie Holiday to avant-garde Albert Ayler. If you're looking for something more recent, CD Collector also offers 7-inch records and LPs by hip bands such as Sleater-Kinney. The vinyl is in remarkably good shape, with nary a nick on our $7.95 selections. Don't have a turntable? The Collector can hook you up there, as well.
