Some people may argue that the apocalypse began with the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 and the belief by much of the nation that Saddam Hussein had something to do with it. Others are waiting for an even more profound day of reckoning, such as an alien invasion or a collision with an errant comet. Whatever the case, you can never be too prepared, and there's no better place to stock up than Bass Pro Shops. Start with camouflage clothing, sleeping bags, firearms, fishing poles and a 150-quart cooler that can keep ice for five days. Fill another two or three shopping carts with a solar-powered AM/FM radio/flashlight, navigational maps, a Cuda 128 fish finder, a propane grill, archery equipment (for when you run out of bullets) and a vacuum sealer for preserving food. As for eats, pick up some freeze-dried beef stroganoff, chicken stew and scrambled eggs with bacon. Want fresh food? Try a scent for attracting deer and a venison cookbook for cooking the kill. If you plan on setting up camp at a golf course, Bass Pro also has a fine selection of clubs and hats. Better still, when Judgment Day comes, simply form a commando unit and secure the location before the aliens get there.
