Bubbles Wash-A-Teria is always neat and tidy, but it deserves much respect for deftly handling a cruise ship emergency this past April. The Seven Seas Navigator, part of the Radisson Seven Seas Cruise line, turned here for help after its monster washer broke down. Using a small truck and a 1963 Cadillac, Wash-A-Teria owners Jim Fields and J.J. Wilson picked up garbage bags filled with 2,500 pounds of sheets, linens, tablecloths and towels. With a deadline to have it all washed and folded by the ship's sailing time, they called in friends and family, including Grandma Jody, and used all its 74 washers and dryers. The Caddy broke a belt, but otherwise, the mission was a total success. And the business now has a legendary story to go along with its fine service.
