Churchill's owner Dave Daniels has two lifelong passions -- soccer and loud music -- and he gives both a home at his legendary British pub. By day on weekends and select weekdays, the TVs are tuned to satellite feeds of soccer games from London, Liverpool and Manchester as local Brits drink beer and pray for goals from Thierry Henry, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney. By night, Churchill's lives up to its claim as a "cradle of indie music" by giving stage time to such local hardcore headbangers as The Van Orsdels, The Laundry Room Squelchers and Malt Liquor Riot. The cramped stage and raw interior would make any soccer hooligan feel at home, and the Little Haiti neighborhood Churchill's has occupied since the 1980s is as tough as most of the bands. Neither the music nor the soccer is always perfect, but the beer and the atmosphere never disappoint.
