Improv at Paradise Live
5700 Seminole Way, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, 954/981-5653, Improvftl.com
As much a nightclub as a comedy theater, the newest of the three South Florida Improvs books the same A-list acts as the Miami and West Palm Beach rooms, but it presents them better with a tiered seating plan that provides clear sightlines to the stage. House favorite Lisa Lampanelli, the aptly nicknamed Queen of Mean, liked the venue so much she recorded her DVD and CD releases Take It Like a Man there. Set at the north end of the Seminole Paradise's outdoor entertainment district, the Improv is fronted by a large marquee that gives standup stars such as Greg Giraldo, Charlie Murphy and Lampanelli a billboard worthy of their talents. It also offers a sizable lobby for comics to meet fans and hawk CDs and T-shirts after the show. As if that weren't enough to get you to pony up for the cover and two-drink minimum, the food is pretty good, too.
