New Moon is a bar with a purpose. Not only does it strive to be "your neighborhood gay and lesbian bar," as its Web site proclaims, but it succeeds at this effort and much more in its Wilton Manors location. Hosting networking events for women in business, blood drives (at which it trades a pint of beer for a pint of blood) or the monthly Women 4 Women events, New Moon is always up to something good. Wednesdays' Cheap Date Night, which features two-for-one drinks, and the always-packed karaoke night on Thursdays are both great reasons for a visit. New Moon also boasts a wine list that includes a few exotic vintages not often found at neighborhood spots, such as a South African Shiraz/Merlot blend and a New Zealand pinot noir.
