Way of the Groove at Alligator Alley

For the past few years, Alligator Alley has generally served as hump day headquarters for Way of the Groove, the four-piece funk and fusion band that expertly interprets music by everyone from Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter to War and Jimi Hendrix. The twin sons of fretless-bass innovator Jaco Pastorius, 24-year-old Felix and Julius Pastorius hold down the bass and drum spots respectively, while saxophonist and keyboardist Colin James and guitarist Adam Lucas dazzle listeners with their own instrumental wizardry. Of course, audiences can expect selections from the Jaco songbook, whether from his Weather Report days or his own classic recordings. And you could hardly find a more-appropriate place than the Alley to honor one of South Florida's most influential musicians; Jaco grew up right down the street. Check the Alley's Web site to be sure the band's not on tour.
