Alligator Alley
1321 E. Commercial Blvd., Oakland Park, 954/771-2220, Alligatoralleyflorida.com

The offerings from Alligator Alley's kitchen perfectly match the offerings from its stage. While listening to greasy funk, bratty punk or raucous rockabilly, you want something hearty with a bit of a kick. A bowl of the Alley's signature gumbo more than fills the bill; it's a hearty concoction of sausage, chicken, shrimp, okra, onions and peppers ladled over rice. If you're really hungry, you may want to dig into a slab of alligator ribs, the recipe for which was featured -- as was the Alley itself -- in an episode of the Food Network's BBQ With Bobby Flay. The Alley's po' boy sandwiches will never let you down, especially the one containing a hefty amount of smoked, pulled pork, which tumbles from the big Cuban roll on which it is served. Appetizers such as gator bites, fried oysters and Buffalo fingers make the variety of Florida beers on tap taste even better.
