Sande's Restaurant
1717 N. Federal Highway, Delray Beach, 561/272-9104
Sande's is a no-nonsense joint. It doesn't accept credit cards and charges 25 cents for a lemon wedge. But the Old Florida-style eatery, which reserves the back porch for smokers, passes on the savings to customers with breakfasts starting at $3.25. Although management is crunching numbers, the service and food never suffer. The hotcakes are so sweet they don't even need syrup. And customers shouldn't miss the sign over the thermostat that reads, "Unattended children will be sold as slaves" -- or we might add, traded for lemon wedges.
