Mimi's Ravioli
5714 Johnson St., Hollywood, 954/983-3711; and 18681 W. Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, 305/931-2306; Mimisravioli.com

Twisted, straight, long, short, tubular, bowtie, flat, wide, curled, cupped, shelled, stuffed, dried, fresh and frozen. However you prefer your pasta, you'll find no better place to stock the pantry or refrigerator than Mimi's. At the main location in Hollywood, a variety of frozen tortellini, stuffed shells and ravioli pack a line of freezers near the entrance. Packages of dried noodles at the back of the store include familiar brands like De Cecco as well as artisan pastas from obscure regions of Italy. Refrigerators near the cash register hold fresh, house-made vermicelli, spaghetti and fettuccine that take just a few minutes to cook. Mimi's has even created Good Health, a new line of low-sodium pastas made with skim milk. But Mimi's does not thrive on pasta alone. It has everything else you need for a great Italian meal, including meats, cheeses, olive oils, aged balsamic vinegars, jarred sauces and canned San Marzano tomatoes. For starters, take home a roasted garlic clove to spread on the fresh, whole-wheat gluten rolls baked daily.
