Quality ingredients and service speak for themselves at any eatery, and they say everything about LaSpada's. Start with oven-fresh 6- and 12-inch rolls, juicy tomatoes and cold cuts sliced to order by an assembly line of hoagiemakers. Move down the line to add marinated sweet peppers, hot cherry peppers, dill pickles, crisp iceberg lettuce, Provolone cheese, a splash of olive oil and red wine vinegar, and a liberal sprinkling of dried oregano. Mayonnaise and mustard are available, of course, but hardly necessary for meal-size subs this ripe and flavorful. LaSpada's opened in 1973, and three decades of serving what it rightly claims to be the "best damn hoagies in town" have resulted in legions of loyal customers. A line always forms at lunchtime, but it moves quickly because of the synchronized, and often entertaining, efforts of the sandwichmakers.
