Best Barbecue Restaurant — Broward

Jack's Bar-BQ Smokehouse
500 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Oakland Park, 954/567-9595

If the wind is blowing in the right direction, you can smell Jack's before you even see it as you drive down Oakland Park Boulevard. The meaty aromas almost demand that you pull over and order a combination meal, which comes with cornbread and two sides, most of them standard barbecue-restaurant choices such as mac and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. Jack's collard greens, however, are probably the best in these parts. When your stomach forces you off the road and into Jack's parking lot, you won't even need to get out of the car -- Jack's is about the only barbecue place around that boasts a drive-through. With wine and beer on the menu along with the juiciest, fall-off-the-bone ribs in all South Florida, Jack's stands tall among its competitors.
