Aunt I's Jamaican Restaurant
1178 N. State Road 7, Lauderhill, 954/321-0190; 10111 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, 954/433-0223; and 19934 N.W. Second Ave., Miami, 305/654-9638; Auntis.net

Aunt I's motto is, "Where good food and good people meet," and a meal at one of Inez Grant's restaurants is all that and more. A Kingston native who opened her first restaurant in 1987 near the Miami-Dade/Broward county line, Grant creates an inviting, easygoing atmosphere with Jamaican music, friendly servers and aromatic dishes. The menu features traditional fare such as subtly spiced jerk chicken, oxtail and curried goat as well as her trademark brown stewed chicken. Each entrée costs about $8. All locations serve lunch and dinner specials daily, and the Lauderhill and Miami restaurants also offer authentic Jamaican breakfasts such as ackee and saltfish, callalloo, and mackerel.
