Best Thai Restaurant

A Thai
6419 Stirling Road, Davie, 954/792-6220

Thai restaurants with food as delicious as A Thai's are common, but for the money, this 40-seater in a nondescript Davie strip plaza can't be beat. A stripped-down operation that features owner Kanya Gardner serving in the dining room and sister Pranee Thnanivas cooking in the kitchen, A Thai keeps the prices low without sacrificing quality. All the spicy chicken, beef and pork entrées are served in a variety of sauces and priced at $8.95 for dinner and $5.75 for lunch. Silky pad Thai goes for the same price and never fails to please. The seafood tops out at $11.95 for a scallop curry, and the crisp duck is the best bargain of all at $12.95. Fragrant soups include the spicy, shrimp-based tom yum goong and coconut-and-chicken-flavored tom kha kai for just $2.95 each. The addictions include the nest of sweet and sticky mee krob noodles served with caramelized chicken and shrimp. Open since 1998, A Thai proves a restaurant offering unbeatable value can thrive in a so-so location.
