Best Greek Restaurant

Taverna Mythos
2864 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, 954/345-9559

You'd be stereotyping if you said Greeks liked to break dishes and swill ouzo, but at this eatery, you'd be speaking the truth. This Coral Springs establishment should be heralded not only for its lively atmosphere but also for its delicious, rich Greek fare. When you arrive, you'll be offered -- or pressured, depending on your viewpoint -- to lean back in your chair and have some ouzo poured down your throat. After your introduction to Greek spirits, load up on the restaurant's creamy hummus served with grilled pita bread. You can easily make a meal from the other starters, such as the earthy stuffed grape leaves, garlicky oven-roasted eggplant and superbly rich tzatziki, which you will be tempted to spoon over everything. Be sure to save room for the tangy and savory lemon chicken, which is one of Mythos' most popular dishes. If you feel you've eaten too much, work it all off with the restaurant's belly dancers.
