Kyojin Japanese Seafood Buffet
3485 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, 954/568-2208; and 21073 Powerline Road, Boca Raton, 561/218-1708; Kyojinbuffet.com
The food at Kyojin is superbly prepared, the selection of raw and cooked items is huge, and because Japanese recipes are light and healthy, you can eat plenty without looking like a sumo wrestler when you're done. Open seven days for lunch and dinner, Kyojin may have the busiest kitchen for a restaurant of its size in all South Florida. The dining rooms are almost always full at peak hours, forcing the cooks and sushi chefs to keep busy putting out 30 types of sushi and an endless bounty of sesame chicken, shellfish, yakitori pork chops and pretty much anything else familiar to a Japanese menu. The constant stream of customers keeps the food from sitting around longer than it should, and the servers are quick to keep your water and beverage glasses full.
