Best Wine Bar

Hollywood Vine
2035 Harrison St., Hollywood, 954/922-2910, Hvine.com

Steven Krakow and Luciano Armellino were on the front end of the wine bar trend when they opened their shop on Harrison Street earlier this year. They got it right from the very beginning by stocking an appealing variety of wines in an informal atmosphere. The bar serves as many as 20 vintages by the glass for $3 to $15 each, and you can taste the wine before ordering the full six-ounce pour. A $5 corkage fee applies if you buy a bottle off the shelf and drink it at either the bar or two nearby tables suited for bigger parties. Hollywood Vine opens at 10 a.m. daily and noon Sunday, and Krakow says it usually stays open "until nobody is here." That means about midnight on weekends and roughly 10 p.m. Tuesdays, when a free tasting takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Hollywood Vine is located near several restaurants, and Krakow and Armellino don't object if you bring in takeout so long as you're drinking one of their wines with dinner.
