According to a 1995 survey by best-selling author and nutritionist Debra Waterhouse, 68 percent of women's cravings are for chocolate. Another survey commissioned by the American Boxed Chocolate Manufacturers claims 29 percent of American men believe giving boxed chocolate to women will boost their chances of getting sex. If that is indeed true, The Melting Pot in Fort Lauderdale must increase chances for a good romping exponentially. The restaurant offers seven signature chocolate fondues and one "special event," for which patrons create their personal concoction by adding melted dark, white or milk chocolate, a choice of liqueur and an Oreo or graham cracker topping. Diners dip strawberries, bananas, pineapple, cheesecake, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies into such illustratively titled desserts as cookies 'n' cream marshmallow dream (dark chocolate, marshmallow and crushed Oreos), yin and yang (dark and white chocolates swirled accordingly) and the flaming turtle (milk chocolate, caramel and chopped pecans). Along with the savory sensations evoked by such titles, visitors will readily appreciate the artistry and thoughtfulness involved in delivering the ultimate chocolate affair.
