Hurricane Wilma did a number on the Mai-Kai, destroying the valet-parking stand, tearing most of the palm fronds from the 50-year-old landmark's roof and ripping a hole in the ceiling of the men's room that continues to leak. Pardon the unavoidable pun, but the leak has done nothing to dampen the experience of taking a leak at the Mai-Kai. The Polynesian ornamentation featured in the showroom and lounge continues inside the men's room, which is decorated with the weathered shell of an old, wooden fishing boat. The ladies' room, by the way, is filled with goddess shrines, just as it should be.
