Venetian Pool
2701 De Soto Blvd., Coral Gables, 305/460-5306, Venetianpool.com
The Venetian Pool was built in the 1920s, when the idea of a woman wearing a thong in public was not only absurd but would probably have landed her in a mental institution. An antique version of Six Flags, the Venetian Pool has been preserved through the years and the water always feels crisp and cool. The water is pumped in from Biscayne Bay and recycled back out through a filtration system -- which is good when you consider the number of mysterious yellow clouds this pool has likely seen in the past 80 years.
