Rosamary O'Neal and Susanne Cornelia
Creolina's, 209 S.W. Second St., Fort Lauderdale 954/524-2003
Tradition says we always choose O'Neal as our best server, and we've found no reason not to do the same this year. Rosie is still great, and as she's quick to remind customers, she really is "the sexiest waitress" around. However, as much as we love and honor O'Neal, we can't help but recognize her nighttime counterpart at Creolina's, Cornelia. Although she doesn't have O'Neal's sassy demeanor, the German-born Cornelia provides service that's as reliable as the gumbo simmering in owner-chef Mark Sulzinski's kitchen. O'Neal has emceed the lunch shift since Sulzinski opened the restaurant in 1991, and Cornelia has covered nights for the past eight years. Both are attentive, quick with the drink refills, knowledgeable about the food and enjoyable to talk to when they have time. In an area where great service seems to be a lost art, Sulzinski has managed to find and keep two servers who treat their work as a profession, not something they do between jobs.
