Miami Craft Mafia
Miamicraftmafia.com
Armed with glue guns, this group of seven women from the craft underworld promises to "make you an afghan you can't refuse." Who needs mass-produced, industrial clothing and accessories when you can get original, handmade pieces from these groovy, independent local artists? As co-founders of the group, Mona Harris makes oversize tote bags from vintage fabric, and Heather Raveling crafts kids clothes for her Ragamufyn line. Plus, they share a venture called Mamadelic, which features bags, belts, jewelry and more. Other Miami Craft Mafia members make funky tops, jewelry, herbal soaps, knit scarves and much more. They sell their DIY goods on the Web or at various art festivals in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
