According to some climatologists, much of Florida will eventually be underwater because of rising sea levels from melting polar ice caps. While that scenario would expand the ocean terrain for scuba divers -- picture abandoned downtown condos as offshore reefs -- the natural wonders off the Florida coastline have kept customers heading to Divers Direct since its first of seven Florida stores opened in 1984 in Key Largo. The Dania Beach site shares a roof with the apparel outlet World Watersports. Occupying the left side of the space as you walk in, scores of scuba masks and fins, oxygen tanks, wetsuits, gloves, hoods, knives, cameras and spear guns occupy the left side of the store. Besides outfitting divers, Divers Direct stores feed their fascination with classes, guided local dives, weekend getaways to the Keys and even travel packages organized by World Watersports to Belize, Cozumel, the Turks and Caicos and more.
