The Enablers

The Enablers formed in Los Angeles several years ago when singer-guitarist Rob Coe moved there from South Florida. Initially, Coe was the band's only member, performing his sharp, Replacements-influenced songs off and on in his new hometown while also posting new recordings on his Web site. But last year, Coe, who is best-known for his years in the exceptional Miami punk acts Fay Wray and Cell 63, decided to make the band a full-time pursuit, recording an EP titled
Sweet Fuck All for the British-based label Newest Industry and moving back to South Florida to perform and record with bandmates Darryl and Dan Bonebrake, the latter formerly of Dashboard Confessional. Together, The Enablers put all those whining, punk-lite emo bands to shame, delivering catchy-as-all-get-out songs based in real heartbreak, palpable dissatisfaction and cases of beer. Where Coe's hero Paul Westerberg once sang, "Look me in the eye and tell me that I'm satisfied," The Enablers make a similar challenge to their listeners, raising the stakes damn near every time they plug in.
