DJ Le Spam

Despite the fact that being a DJ in South Florida is sort of like being an actor
in Los Angeles, it wasnt too hard for us to figure out the best. DJ Le Spams
combination of old-school funk, hip-hop, Latin and jazz influences at least ensures
his place in South Florida club land. Even if you dont think hes the
best, you have to admit he doesnt sound like your typical resident DJ at
dance clubs. And though you can catch the Spam Man at two residencies Wednesdays
at Jazid and Thursdays at I/O Lounge he also gigs around with his band,
the Spam Allstars, which toured this year with Vida Blue, the side project of
Phish keyboardist Page McConnell. The group likewise helped in the recording of
Vida Blues debut album, while also releasing its own most recent album,
Contra los Roboticos Mutantes. All of that goes to show: You really can never
have enough Spam.
