In a short time, Brogues has turned into the best gathering place in downtown
Lake Worth and an oasis for local artists playing original music. It takes its
Irish roots very seriously. Last January, nobody knew whether it was legal or
not, but they snuck a body in through the back and had an old-fashioned Irish
wake for a Boynton Beach woman who had made it her dying wish. Along with the
body, Brogue’s laid out the corned beef, Irish stew, shepherd’s pie
and, of course, the whiskey was flowing. “It was a hooley,” as one of
the guests so profoundly put it.
